I am swooning, actually swooning, over this blush & black work dress haha. I love finding dresses that are professional but still have a feminine quality. The fact that there is a matching blush colored blazer makes it the perfect office look. Also, how great are the suede lace up heels? I am so glad that chunky heels are on trend again, because man oh man they are so much more comfortable!

For this week's weekend look I wanted something comfortable (..what else is new haha). I love the cross strap top and with the burgundy cardigan it is perfect for fall. I've been wanting new fall booties as I only have one pair. I love the studded details on these Sole Society ones. And; as always, I want every piece of jewelry Olive & Piper has haha. These rings are perfect statement rings, and such a great deal with the 20% off code!

Today is my first full day back in my parents small town and it is weird, and great, and did I mention weird to be back. Fun fact: we still don't have high speed internet so I am currently heading to my best friend's hair salon on the main street, where there is actually internet that does not make me want to pull my hair out haha. Wish me luck!

Olive & Leopard

Similar Blazer // Top c/o // Pants (on sale!!) // Similar Heels here, and boot version here // Similar Clutch

I've been wearing olive green a lot lately. It's an easy color to add to work wear to move away from black & white, without making too much of a statement. Perfect for a classic work look. Pops of leopard and gold add just enough drama to make the look stylish.

In case you missed my first post with these pants (here), trust me these are *the* pants you need if you work in an office. The perfect work day pant. The best part is they are now on sale for under $70! Score!

Having been under the weather lately I have been on a major Gilmore Girls bender. I started with the first season a couple weeks ago and am already mid-season three haha. I am so excited for the new season to be released in a couple of weeks. Are any of you guys huge Gilmore Girls fans too? I had such a blast going to the Luke's Diner pop up last week (you may have seen the pics/video in my instastories!)

Wednesday Wants: Velvet

womens wear velvet items

work wear velvet fashion trend

One of the fall's biggest trends this year is actually really easy to incorporate into your work day wardrobe. Velvet is perfect (in small doses) for your office style. The above items are my favorite currently available velvet pieces.

I really like that the velvet trend is, for the most part, sticking to really rich hues in burgundys, blues and blacks. These are colors that are easy to pair with grey & black work wear. I think my first velvet item will have to be either the heels or loafers - such a great way to ease into this fall/winter trend!

In other news, in response to so many great reader/follower questions (thanks guys!!) I'll be doing a second Facebook live Q&A focused on beauty later this evening. "Like" my facebook page and tune in to see the video! If you've got any last minute beauty questions for me, let me know!

Work Wear Outfit Ideas for Fall

fall office appropriate outfit ideas

When I'm looking for inspiration for what to wear at the beginning of a season, one of the first things I do is go through my old blog posts to remind myself of outfits I wore last year. This helps to remind me of style ideas I liked, and gets the creative juices flowing!

Today, therefore, I thought I would share 5 office appropriate outfits that I wore last fall, and will definitely be re-creating again this year. I hope these help inspire your own work day fall style. Below each photo I've included a link to the original blog post where you can see all of the outfit details (all item links have been updated.)

PS. did you catch my Facebook live style Q&A over the weekend?! I've saved the video to my facebook page, so head on over to check it out if you missed it!

Navy & Pink

   Blazer // Similar Tops: (1), (2), (3) // Pants // Heels // Earrings // Bracelet

These pink pants were a purchase I made last week with the thought process of: "oh ya summer?! you think you're over?! Not a chance. I'll show you... I'll buy summer clothes to wear; take that!!"

Unsurprisingly, mother nature did not bend to my thought process, and indeed the summer weather here has come to an end. So; that meant styling these hot pink pants in a way that worked for fall. My favorite navy blazer and these suede navy pumps seemed like a great way to do that.

I really love the combination of navy & pink for early fall, so this is probably not the last you'll be seeing of this color combo here on the blog. (... in fact, if you follow me on instagram, you may have seen that I caved and bought this in hot pink). I have a hot pink addiction right now!

Wednesday Wants: Stylish Blazers

best blazers for women

womens blazers bold colors

As a primarily courtroom lawyer, I spend 95% of my time in blazers. If you too have to wear a blazer some or all of the time at work, you know the importance of finding one that is good quality, well-fitted, and stylish! It can be a daunting task (especially as a female!).

Luckily, this fall there are so many bold blazers that make a fashion statement while still ensuring you look polished and professional. The above ones are my favorites (... so far haha) I think I am going to invest in the pink one. Clearly, it can't be worn every day, but what beautiful statement piece! I love it with stripes (as they've shown), but it would also look gorgeous with pale grey, black or even leopard print for a bold choice.

How many of you wear blazers to work regularly? Should I style more of them here on LLB? I would love to know your thoughts!

On another note, I am still on vacation and having so much fun with all my nieces and nephews. Be sure to follow along on instagram & twitter to stay up to date on my adventures. And for all you working moms out there - YOU ARE ALL SUPERHUMAN. I am SO impressed and have a renewed respect for all you manage to do. #TiredAuntLee

A Feminine Suit

Bow pocket CeCe womens suita line skirt suit
womens tweed suit setCeCe womens summer bow suit
womens tweed blazer with bows
Blazer // Skirt // Heels (SO comfortable) // Crossbody Bag (under $30!) // Lipstick (in "wonderland")

You may remember this suit from my Nordstrom Sale - Product Review post. I have already worn this CeCe suit a few times since then, and receive compliments every time I wear it! The reason I think it is so well-received is that it strikes the perfect balance of professional & stylish/youthful.

The bow detailing adds a hint of femininity. I also love the unique slight a-line cut of the skirt. So few suits diverge from the pencil skirt style, that it was nice to add something different to my wear-to-work wardrobe.

This Forever 21 crossbody was *such* a great purchase! I use it probably once a week and it cost less than $30! The style reminds me of the famous Chloe "Drew" (but with a price tag that is actually affordable!)

Please forgive my hair in these photos - the humidity has been crazy here in Vancouver this week and I certainly have had the "mane" to prove it. Side note: one of my childhood nicknames was "Simba" lol.

In other news, I am flying back to the east coast later today to spend a week with my family. I am so, so, excited to eat my parents home cooking, squish my nieces & nephews, & relax with friends by the pool. Follow along on instagram to keep up with my adventures; and like me on facebook to see videos - I will try to post at least one live video while I am away.

Blazer // Pants c/o (exact color sold out, but many options available) // Shoes // Similar Handbags: (1), (2), (3)

Pink pants that are work appropriate?! My inner 13 year old is freaking. right. out. I fell in love with these pants the moment I saw them. Unfortunately they are a bit big on me (Definitely order one size down) but I like them so much that I don't mind.

Pale pink/blush is probably my favorite wear-to-work color (see two of my other favorite outfits here & here). I love how well it pairs with both black & grey and how it adds a touch of femininity to traditional office wear.

I'm only in court for the morning session today, so my weekend actually starts at 12:30! I'm having an "adventure day" with my group of girlfriends and I could not be more excited. Follow along on instagram if you want to see the activities and shenanigans we get up to as I'm sure I'll post instagram stories. Have a great Friday everyone, and see you back here Monday morning!

Finding the Best Blazer for your Body Type

Last week I posted a guide on how to pick your first suit. Over the weekend I was inundated with emails about the post. (yay for readers finding it helpful!) The one thing so women wanted more information on is blazer styles. Blazers can be a real challenge. They are wardrobe essential for any professional woman but, this wear-to-work item can often leave women feeling shapeless and un-stylish. The good news is this does not need to be the case! Gone are the days of blazers being ill-fitted for women; there are actually a number of companies making great blazers that actually look good on women (woohoo!)

The trick, my wonderful readers, is to find a blazer cut that suits your body type so that you don't end up drowning in shapeless fabric looking like the girl at prom who threw on her date's jacket. (Side note: weird reference?? I have no idea why that's the first thing to come to my mind, but were gonna roll with it okay? okay.)

I struggle with the idea of classifying women's bodies into "types", but I also think it is a helpful way to help you look your best, so I have done my best to come up with terms/categories that hopefully you can relate to and can easily find yourself a styling, well-fitted, suited-to-the-professional-rockstar-that-you-are, blazer. Here goes:

If you are busty:

First off if you are busty; sister I feel. your. pain! Button-down shirts and qork wear in general was not made for us and the difficulty in dressing a larger chest is a massive pain. The struggle is real. That is a rant for an entirely separate post though. For now, let's just talk what you can do to find a blazer that works with your chest.

A single button blazer is the most flattering cut for a bigger chest. Be sure though that the blazer is NOT TOO SMALL. A tight blazer with only button actually has the complete opposite effect on a busty frame- making you look as though you are going to burst-out at any time. If you are between sizes in a one-button blazer, always size up and get the waist/arms tailored.

Also look for blazers with a slim lapel - width can again work against you. Avoid chest pockets or embellishments on the upper part of your blazer. Shop the widget below for some great blazers for busty women.

If you are small chested:

If you are smaller chested you can easily wear blazers with more 'happening'. Three button blazers will be the most flattering on your shape. Look for wider lapels - especially ones with detailing (I love a leather trim or other change in fabric on a lapel). You can also create the same illusion with color but choosing a blazer with a different colored lapel. Embellishments such as pockets also work well for this shape. The widget below has my top picks for blazers for smaller chests.

If you are apple shaped:

A well-fitted blazer is the key if you have an apple shaped figure- meaning you don't have a defined waist. The best blazer for this body type is one that sits at the hips - too short a blazer will "cut you in half" in terms of the look. The longer line created by a blazer that sits longer will be the most flattering.

As well, look for blazers that are made of lightweight materials. Thicker materials will both add width to your frame and also will not move as easily -and a flowy movement will allow the best parts of your shape to shine through. Below are great blazers for apple shaped women.

If you are pear-shaped/hippy:

I am quite hippy and for some reason for years though the best bet was to find a blazer that hit at my hips. Not the case! If you have wider hips you want a blazer that hits just above your hips (show off those curvy hips!) or one that hits just below them- covering them. Anything in the middle will draw attention directly to your hips and make you appear larger than you are.

You also want to avoid embellishments or detailing at hip height. Do not go for blazers with dramatic pockets at the hips! Wider lapels and embelishments on the top, by contrast, look great if you are hippy. Below are my favorite hip-approved blazers.

If you are a straight build (not curvy):

If you have a straight build you have a ton of options for blazers! You can play up your straight figure if you wish with a three buttoned fitted blazer. You can also play up the illusion of an hour glass figure by going for peplum waists, or anything with a belt that nips in at the waist. A wider lapel, combined with a nipped in waist, will add to the hourglass illusion.

Below are some blazers I love that would work so well on straight build:
