Shopping | Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: Top 15 Picks

I shared my wear-to-work picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale last week, but since today is the first day of public access I thought I would share a quick post of my favorite things. Ie. Not just office wear, but my general favorite items from the Nordstrom Sale. I don't want to overwhelm you guys with Nordstorm sale content, so I've narrowed it down to my top 15 picks from this year's NSale. You can shop my 15 favorite items in the widget below (just click through!)

Some highlights I want to mention about my favorite items:

1) The La Mer Set:
This is probably the #1 item from the NSale (in my mind) and definitely the thing I would most recommend if you are only going to get one thing from the Nordstrom sale. La Mer cream is hands down the best face cream out there. Just google it- the results and reviews are incredibly. It is however extremely expensive (at least for my tastes) so getting this set for $55 less than you would normally spend is awesome. I am buying two so that the cream lasts me for a while!

2) The Tory Burch Riding Boots:
Order these immediately as they sell out every year. I bought last year's TB riding boots in the cognac color, and am going to get this year's in black. They are, quite simply, the perfect fall boot. I wore mine literally 5x a week last fall/winter!

3) The Zella Moto Leggings:
Zella leggings are considered by many people to be the best leggings out there as they are comfortable, stay in place, and hug in all the right places. I have their basic leggings (and agree with all of the above) but I love the idea of adding these moto detail ones to my wardrobe. Worn with boots and tunics these would be perfect all fall and winter long.

4) The Michael Kors Trench:
FINALLY. I have been looking for a cute rain coat with a hood for the past three years (...since i moved to Raincouver; I mean "Vancouver"). This is a classic cut trench in a classic color and actually has a hood. This is a must-have if you live in the Pacific North West!

5) Good American High Waist Skinny Jeans:
I have been wanting to see what all the hype is about with Good American jeans for quite some time. (Do they really flatter every body type?!) The price tag has stopped me from pulling the trigger on these jeans, but with the NSale pricing they are definitely worth trying out! If you are interested in hearing more about how these jeans fit tune into my instagram today (See more below!)

As someone who does not have early access to the sale, today is my first day to shop! I will be heading to Nordstrom today to try on the items I didn't want to order without seeing how they fit first. I will be doing try-on sessions in my instagram stories, so be sure to follow along to get the inside scoop on how these items look in real life, as well as all the details about sizing and quality! I plan to start getting the instastories up around 11am PST (and of course they will stay up for 24 hours).

Happy Shopping!!!

Weekend Wear | Shirt Dress

Dress c/o // Wedges c/o // Choker Necklace c/o (20% off with code LEGALLEE) // Similar Handbags (1), (2)

This dress arrived from The Mint Julep Boutique last week and I couldn't wait to share it with you all. There is something so timeless about a shirt dress; I own at least four!  What really drew me to this one is the trapeze cut. Trapeze / flared dresses have been on repeat in my closet this summer. I love the loose fit and they are so flattering! This dress does run large, so size down! For reference, I am wearing a medium, but definitely should have gone with a small.

I think what I love most about shirt dresses is that they have that perfect balance between business and casual. This is a dress I would feel comfortable wearing to basically any weekend event; from brunch, to meetings, to running errands. To make it even more summery and casual weekend ready I styled it with my favorite choker necklace and these gorgeous gold strappy wedges. I swear by wedges in the summertime (noone wants to be out and about in heels!) These gold ones are great because the gold basically acts as a summer time neutral, so you can wear them with almost anything!

I wore this exact outfit to meet friends for drinks on Friday night and it felt like the perfect outfit because I was comfortable all night long. I actually walked about 2 miles from where we were to where my condo is and my feet didn't hurt at all!!

In other news, I am off to San Francisco / Palo Alto tomorrow!! I am so excited for a mini-vacation (I am going just for 4 days). A friend of mine moved there two years ago, so I am going to visit him and can't wait to check out the city! Be sure to follow along on instagram for stories and updates on my trip. If you have any last minute suggestions of things I need to see / places I need to go, let me know in the comments below!

Instagram Lately - July 2017

Hi all! It's been a while since i did an instagram roundup, so I figured it was time to do another one! Many of the items I shared in my photos have gone on sale since I shared them on instagram; so now is a great time to shop!

Sweater // Ripped Cuffed Denim // Heels (valentino dupes!)

Can we all just agree this is the greatest sweater of all time? Yes? Good. It also happens to be the softest thing I have ever worn. *swoon* It is on sale right now, so get it ASAP!

I found this hat a few weeks ago and it has become a summer staple. I want to wear this every time I'm at the beach or pool (...I mean, I would also like to wear it at work... but that may not go over so well ha!)

Sunglasses c/o // Dress (sold out in the pattern I'm wearing, but still available - and on sale - in other colors)
I shared this photo with Diff Eyewear last week. I only just learned about Diff and am obsessed. If you've been following me for a while (especially on twitter and on IG where I talk about it more) I am really passionate about companies that do good in the world. Fashion & charity can go hand in hand and I love companies that embody that. For every pair of Diff glasses sold, a pair of reading glasses is donated to someone in need. Cool eh?

This lace off the shoulder top is perfect for a summer weekend. I wore this on Saturday to run errands (like picking up the prettiest bouquet) and while hanging out with friends at the beach. I love off the shoulder when I'm out in the summer so that I can actually get a tan!

 Dress // Heels (Valentino dupes!)

I had to snap a selfie of this gorgeous dress I found a couple of weeks ago. It can be to challenge to find wear-to-work dresses that are trendy but still office appropriate. This dress is perfect for a summer  day at the office. Bonus? It's under $60!!

This top is a favorite for creating a trendy work look. I've worn it on the blog before here, and earlier this month I wore it to the office with the navy skinny pants and heels pictured above. Right now this shirt is 25% off!

One of my favorite cafes in Vancouver - Olive & Ruby - has the coolest hanging chair. Grabbing a cup of coffee and swinging in this chair has got to be one of the most relaxing things! Sadly the top I am wearing here is sold out, but keep your eye on it for a re-stock!
Top

Just cruising around in one of my best summer 'steal' purchases to date. This top is a dupe of the JCrew version and is under $15!

This is actually a throwback Thursday photo from my trip to New Orleans in March (see my blog post on the trip). My friend Maddie and I were walking down the street having had a few too many hurricanes when she spotted this nook in the wall. She decided that I just HAD to climb up in it so she  could take a photo haha. I am glad she did as I love this shot! Let me tell you though, getting down from this was not so graceful!

That's it! Hope you liked the roundup! And be sure to follow along on instagram for more. XO

Work Wear | Ruffle Sleeved Blazer

photos by austin mollins photography

White blazers have been everywhere this season; and it is easy to see why. A white blazer is a great way to make a corporate outfit feel more summer ready and fresh. I have been eyeing a number of white blazers all summer, but when I saw this one I knew immediately this was the one I needed to buy.

The ruffle trim on the sleeves of this blazer adds a fun, trendy element that is perfect for a summer day at the office. The structured shape of the blazer still makes it feel corporate while those ruffle sleeves add in that on-trend style.

I decided to keep today's work outfit classic by pairing the white blazer with a white tank top and my all time favorite pants (... you know I can't get enough of these black skinny pants) My tank top is unfortunately sold out, but I did link up a similar one below.

This is definitely one of my favorite wear to work looks this summer because it feels classic but trendy at the same time. Adding trends and fun styles into work wear can be a challenge, so I love when I can find an outfit that does just that.

Shopping | The BEST Work Wear from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

The biggest sale of the year is finally here!!!!! I know every blogger swoons over this sale (and you may be wondering whether you want to read another Nordstrom Anniversary Sale post) but this post is a MUST READ if you are a working woman. Below I've rounded up my top picks for wear-to-work items from the #NSale.
top work wear from the Nordstrom anniversary sale

Why is this important? Well, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has over FIVE THOUSAND items. I know you don't have time to go through all that! Consider me your personal filter haha. I've rounded up my work wear picks from the Nordstrom sale, so that you can save time but still get some amazing fall on-trend items to wear to the office.

In addition to my wear to work picks from the sale, I will be sharing reviews of the items I buy over the next two weeks. I will do two blog posts reviewing items! Be sure to follow me on instagram for even more on the sale (I will do my best to share more in my stories!)

Last thing - if you do not have early access to the sale (I don't!) make sure you still click through and save these items that you want. Keep a list of what your top picks are so that you can be sure to add those to your cart the first day of public access. For more on strategies for shopping the sale (and how to shop the sale if you are Canadian) see this post.

Work Wear | Lilac & A Midi Skirt

Happy Monday! I thought I would start your week off with a summer outfit that is perfect to wear to the office and transition into after work patio drinks! I am all about day-to-night outfits in the summer since noone wants to waste precious time in the sun & warm weather going home to change!

This top is perfect because it can be worn to work the way I have worn it here, but can be pulled down to be off-the-shoulder after work. It is *almost* entirely sold out (and massively on sale) so grab one asap! I've also linked up a similar one below. This checkered pencil skirt caught my eye because of the midi length. It's a nice change from the classic to-the-knee work day pencil skirt. The material is a thicker knit so it's great to make sure you can tuck a shirt in without it looking bulky!

I topped off the look with my Chanel clutch that I inherited from my grandmother and some of the most comfortable work day heels. I love these suede Sam Edelman heels and can actually wear them for an entire day at work without my feet hurting (no small feat in my books!)

Have a great work day everyone! And, as always, let me know if you have any questions about the fit, quality, etc. of any of these items!

Work Wear | Suit & Runners

I can't get enough of bright colored suits lately! (See this post for another one) I love that bright colors are back in fashion for suits - especially pant suits. To keep the look from feeling too 1980's, opt for trendier accessories to compliment your suit. This can be an on-trend bag (I am still swooning over this one) or - my personal new favorite thing - running shoes!

I fell in love with these running shoes from Boden the moment I saw them. Embroidery has been everywhere this summer, but I had never seen embroidery on sneakers until these shoes. I absolutely love the crisp white against the colored embroidery; such a beautiful and unique shoe!

A suit worn with running shoes is a trend I definitely see myself carrying over into the fall and winter - it just feels so fashion forward/trendy but also allows for comfort!

I hope you all have a great Friday and got to enjoy the fact that it was a short work week! I had a really busy week and am looking forward to some down time this weekend.

Shopping | 5 Dresses You Need for Work This Summer

The arrival of summer weather (finally for us Vancouverities!) means a change up in your wear-to-work outfits. Dress codes relax and, of course, you want outfits that beat the summer heat outside but don't have you freezing in a (likely) over air-conditioned office. Today I wanted to share with you 5 dresses that you need for work this summer. All 5 are on trend and perfect for a day at the office!

Floral print is the ultimate way to add some summer vibe to your 9 to 5 style. This floral print sheath dress is perfect because the summery print is balanced out by the classic sheath shape.

The color block trend is big again this summer, and this classic black and white dress would like great in any office environment. I personally love colorblocking because of how flattering a well-placed color block can be! In this dress the black trim around the top creates the illusion of a smaller figure.

There are so many shirt dresses out there right now, but it can be hard to find one that is appropriate for work; as many are mini-dresses. This dress is a perfect just-above-the-knee length and the pinstripe pattern adds even more of a classic work day feel to the dress.

High necklines were all the rage in runway shows last year for this year's summer collections. High necklines are a great trend for work since they are so easily made work appropriate. I love the added detailing of the tie at the neckline of this dress. Perfect for a day of meetings and generally being a #girlboss.

As you can clearly tell by now, I am sucker for a trendy neckline! One of the trends that has been popular this summer on wear to work dresses as been the racer neck. On a very traditional silhouette (like this sheath) the look totally works for the office.

Click any of the images on the photo to shop, or shop the post in the widget below! Happy Wednesday!

Work Wear | Wide Leg Cropped Pants

Wear-to-work fashion, while more consistent than street style, does still have trends each season. One of the biggest trends in corporate / office appropriate fashion this summer is wide leg cropped pants. When I saw these striped ones with a bow tie waist, I knew I had to add them to my closet! The wide leg cropped cut is extremely flattering; a nice change to classic dress pants!

In addition to these amazing cropped pants, I am still in love with my nude valentino lookalike shoes from last summer. The nice thing about wide leg cropped pants is that they let you really show off your shoes. It's basically an excuse to wear a statement shoe like these Valentino dupes! I actually have these in black as well, and still want to get another color! I am thinking about getting the navy or burgundy for fall.

Since today is a holiday, I am off work and heading out on a hike!! I had such a great Canada Day weekend, and love that we have one extra day to relax and enjoy. I spent Saturday at the beach by the ocean, Sunday at a lake and today am hiking the sea to sky. It has been the perfect British Columbia weekend! To my fellow Canadians, I hope you've had a great long weekend and that you take some time today to recharge so you are ready for the work week ahead. To my American readers, happy almost Independence Day! Enjoy your celebrations tomorrow!

Ps. Do you like the wide leg cropped pants trend for work? Any other 9 to 5 style trends you are loving right now?
