This dress was my first Theory purchase, and I cannot sing it's praises highly enough! The quality is evident from the moment you touch the material. This has easily become my favorite new work dress.

I love the subtle green-black-blue print of the dress as well. I decided to pair it with similar tones, so I went with my green-blue handbag and my navy blue suede slingbacks. Gold accessories polished the look off. I love doing bracelet stacks for the office.

In other news, last night sucked. If you follow me on instagram or twitter you know that Mode Media - one of the biggest blogger agencies in North America - filed for bankruptcy yesterday; leaving thousands of bloggers out thousands of dollars.

It's a really scary feeling that you can sign a contract, do work and then never actually get paid. I am definitely in shock and still trying to process the whole  thing. If you are a fellow Mode media blogger - my condolences (virtual hugs all around). It's a good time to reflect upon your finances & hopefully we'll all come out of this stronger!

I hope you all have an awesome weekend, whatever you plan on doing. See you back here on Monday!

Style Inspiration: Anne Hathaway as Jules in "The Intern" (Look 2)

recreated look anne hathaway in the intern
Today's entry in my Style Inspiration Series is another look inspired by Anne Hathaway as "Jules" in The Intern. I have re-created one of her outfit's before (here), but I think that her wardrobe is the best "young professional fashionista" wardrobe I have seen in a movie. I want every outfit worn by Anne Hathaway in this movie magically transferred into my closet!

What I like about this look is that it serves as a great reminder that the bold combination of red & leopard print can work for a professional look if styled correctly. Keeping the accessories to a minimum and wearing a menswear style blazer tone down the red/leopard and create an excellent work look.

What do you think of this work look? Would you wear red & leopard to the office? I'd love to hear your thoughts! My main tips on wearing a combination of red & leopard print to work are:

1) Keep your accessories to a minimum

2) Keep the leopard print to a smaller item (shoes or a handbag are perfect)

3) Look for materials and fabrics that are high quality to keep the look professional

I hope you all have a great start to your work week. It has been so nice and warm here in Vancouver so I plan on wearing spring looks to work all week. If you follow along on instagram I'll make sure to post some of them.

Do you like my embellished collar shirt? Embellishments are everywhere this season, and are a great way to add some more glamour to a basic work look. Instead of spending money on yet another blouse, you can achieve this look with a little DIY!

This embellished shirt is actually a plain shirt which I have added a pair of stud earrings to. You can attach any pair of stud earrings to your collar (the bigger the better though) to temporarily give yourself an embellished shirt. I love this trick and have done it with so many of my collared shirts.

I purchased the pants you see here from Old Navy online a few weeks back. I used the EBates program I have mentioned to you before. Seriously, it is the easiest way to get a bit of extra cash. You get money back from purchases you'd be making anyway! I've now received two cheques from EBates and I love it! There is no "catch" and no cost to sign up. You can sign up here.

I've been working on updating my apartment for spring this week, and it has been a bit more of an undertaking than I expected! I bought a beautiful piece of art work (you can see it in this post) but the actual wooden frame is crooked and it's driving me crazy! Any brilliant ideas for how to fix it would be much appreciated! Have a great weekend everyone.

I have been wearing this skirt a lot lately (see this post). Pairing it with a turtleneck and statement necklace made for a fun work look that was comfortable all day long. This turtleneck is actually a body suit. They are the best thing to wear with pencil skirts - smooth lines and no uncomfortable bunching! I highly recommend body suits.

Today is Day 7 of 12 Days of Giveaways and today we are giving away such a great prize - the below hat & scarf set from Deloom, AND a $50 gift card to Deloom!

Happy Monday everyone! I am loving the combination of bright mint, bright yellow, and pale blue for spring! This outfit just makes me happy - and with so many sales right now you can get the entire look for like $100!!!

For those of you who follow me regularly, you may have noticed some radio-silence when it comes to my job. Well, that is because things have been in flux for me. I finished my contract as a Crown Prosecutor at the end of January and have been spending a lot of time trying to figure out my next steps. It was incredibly hard for me to not be working as a lawyer (even though it was only a few weeks) as I really do truly love criminal law. Today however, I am pleased to announce that I am officially set up now as a criminal defense lawyer. I'm completely my own boss (working as a sole practitioner) but I am working in tandem with two other lawyers who I am excited to learn from!

This has been a pretty crazy transition for me, but I have learned a lot. I still think I want to get back into the prosecution side of things eventually, but for now, I am excited (and terrified) for this new adventure. I'm looking forward to the flexibility that being your own boss affords, and I am also eager to sharpen my skills as a zealous advocate for my clients. I'm excited to combine my passion for helping people with the academic side of my brain in order to help people who have been charged with crimes. Cheers to life changes and next steps!
