Pink Shirt Day

Many of you have heard of the #PinkShirtDay anti-bullying campaign. This year Pink Shirt Day will be held on February 24th, where individuals across Canada will rock pink shirts to show their support for taking a stand against bullying.

For those of you who don't know, the roots of the Pink Shirt campaign stem from two high school boys who decided to wear pink shirts to school one day in support of a grade 9 boy who was being bullied for wearing pink. The idea struck a chord across the nation, and today the campaign raises money nationwide for great youth causes.

This year, London Drugs is the exclusive retailer of the Pink Day t-shirts that you can see the four of us wearing in these photos. These are the official Pink Day shirts, and the net proceeds of these shirts will go to the CKNW Orphan's Fund in support of Boys & Girls Clubs in local communities. If you do not have a London Drugs near you, you can order yours online, here.

I love the idea behind pink shirt day, and especially love this year's message focusing on kindness. I'd love to say that bullying ends with ones teenage years, but I think we are all to familiar with adult bullies that feel the need to belittle others or bring them down. What I have learned in recent years is that a little kindness in the working world goes a long way. Many people are unhappy, over-tired or over-stressed and spreading kindness can make a bullied person feel stronger, and a bully feel less inclined to lash out.

I hope you will all join me on February 24th in wearing a pink shirt and spreading some kindness.

So. Many. Lawyers.

fashion-blogger-collaboration-professional-outfits

One of my favorite parts of this blogging adventure I've been on for the past year has been getting to know fellow bloggers - especially fellow lawyer bloggers. Tif was one of the first bloggers I ever connected with and it was SO much fun to discuss (in addition to our love of Kendra Scott & Lilly Pulitzer) the differences between being a lawyer in Canada and the US. This certainly wasn't something I expected to have emerge from this blogging adventure, but I am so grateful to have made so many friends and fashionista-colleagues!

Today we wanted to link up and show you "lawyer style" and our five different takes on what that means. You should definitely check out all of these lovely ladies blogs to see more of their outfit pics as well as to learn more about their awesome selves! Direct links to their blogs are at the end of this post. For now though... let's get you to my outfit pics!

Faux leather accents are a huge trend this fall and I could not be more excited about that. For the past few years I have been incorporating faux leather accents into my work wardrobe. I love how - when used in moderation - it looks professional but tough. Work outfits can really affect your mood/ how you take on the day and I find that faux leather gives me a huge confidence boost!

I also love adding touches of other fall trends to my daily work outfits - which is why emerald, burgundy & leopard print all make appearances in this work look. Do you try to incorporate fall trends into your work looks? What are your favourite looks for work?

For anyone stopping by from the other lawyers blogs- HI!! Thanks for stopping by! I love to get to know new readers so feel free to introduce yourself in the comments below! Follow me on bloglovin to keep up with my posts.

Now - to get to my fashionable lawyer friends! Go check out their pages and show em some love! From L to R right from the above outfits:

Brittany @ The Lady Lawyer - I love the peplum detail on her jacket
Nina @ The Law of Fashion - that skirt! She shares my love of faux leather
Tif @ Bright on a Budget - so obsessed with the blush on blush
Brittany @ Lawyer Lookbook - she has the most amazing hair, doesn't she?!

Spotlight Weekly Link Up - Ankle Boots

fashion-link-up

Happy Thursday everyone! Today I am linking up with Elle & Jacqueline to show you one of our favourite fall trends - ankle boots!

Ankle boots are probably my favourite fall item. Look for ones with a "v" front (similar to the Joe Fresh ones I am wearing) to elongate your leg. While it is still nice and summery here in Vancouver, I am starting to get excited about fall clothes! Are there certain fall trends you are getting excited for?

If you are stopping by from the linkup - nice to "meet" you! I hope you enjoy our fall "ankle boot" outfits! As a young (... well, young-ish, haha) career woman the focus of LegalLee Blonde is professional outfits - things you can wear to work - that are still fashionable and fun! I hope you stick around and keep coming back to LegalLee Blonde! You can also follow me on instagram or like me on facebook.

Since this week's trend is ankle boots I also wanted to show you my favourite ankle boots that are available right now. See the widget below for my picks- and just FYI most are under $100!

Lawyered (Tips on Creating the Perfect Office Look)

Curious about the name of today's post? Well, today I am linking up with two other fellow lawyer/fashion bloggers! How cool is that?! I met both Tif and Nina through fashion blogging and love getting discuss both legal practice and fashion with them. Below are the photos of the outfit I decided to wear for this link up:

We are linking up today to show you three different "lawyer looks"; ie. outfits perfect for young professionals like ourselves. Without any further ado, let me tell you a bit about this outfit / the things to look for to create a perfect office look!

1) The "Two Tone" look:
This is so flattering. This style dress flatters your body shape, as well as gives the illusion of a two piece outfit (skirt and blouse) without the added bulk of having to tuck in a blouse.

2. Bra Clips:
I included that last photo of the back of the dress to show the fact that you can't see my bra! woohoo! This dress has those little snaps inside the dress straps that you can clip your bra into so that it stays in place. This is a major 'lookout' for me when I am buying dresses for the office. It never looks good when your bra pops out, so I always look for dresses with this feature. Banana republic is pretty good about having them, as are Club Monaco and Esprit.

3. A Statement Necklace:
One of the best ways to keep a business outfit looking youthful and, let's face it, not boring, is to add a statement necklace. You don't want to go too overboard for work, but a statement necklace in a colour coordinated to the top (like this cream one) works perfectly.

4. Hair Style:
Anyone else with long hair find it a complete pain in the butt when it comes to work? I cannot possibly imagine chopping off my long blonde hair, it is too much a part of me! But, I do find that leaving long hair down does not exactly scream "professional". Side braids are thus one of my go to hairstyles, and one I highly recommend for long haired girls. Of course top knots or sleek buns are always great (and I wear them a lot) but sometimes your head just needs a break from the dreaded "pony tail headache" (do you know what I mean? It's the worst!) Thus, a sidebraid keeps your hair down, but keeps it looking tidy.

6. Classic Purse:
Sadly I very rarely actually take a purse to court (... I'm stuck rolling around a giant lawyer brief case- wuh, wuhhh) but if I was to bring a purse; this style would be my go to. Stick with classic shapes and colours for office purses.

Well dearest readers, that's all for me! Thanks for reading such a long post. I hope you found it helpful! Be sure to check out Tif and Nina's blogs to see more of their outfit pics!

See you all again on Wednesday for this week's edition of "Wednesday Wants"!

Today I'm excited to be doing a collaboration with Bree from The Urban Umbrella and Sam from OTI Samantha. Samantha is doing a "colour series" on her blog and reached out to Bree and I to showcase some of our favourite pink outfits for this series. You all know I friggin love pink so this was an easy one for me! Pink is so often ignored in the colder months so I wanted to show off a winter/early spring coat that brings a pop of pink to your cold weather wardrobe. Hope you like it!

Today I have a day out of court (the first day in over a week and a half) and I am actually happy about that! I have tons of office work and research to do so I am really excited to have a day at my desk, drinking coffee and getting my work done. I am so lucky to love what I do so much that this "work" barely feels like work at all. Hope you all have a great day ahead of you.
