fashion blogger outfit roundup summer outfits

Outfit 1: Here // Outfit 2: Here // Outfit 3: Here

Happy August! July just flew by (... though I'm pretty sure I say that about every month haha). I can't believe we are already in August! The three outfits above are my favorite wear-to-work outfits that I showcased on the blog in the month of July.

I also thought I would show you my favorite casual outfits from July (I post those on my instagram). I've also linked up the items (or similar ones) in each of the instagram photos below. Be sure to follow me on instagram if you want to see more casual looks (I post those more frequently on instagram than on the blog).

I'd love to know which looks are your favorite! Let me know in the comments below.

This polka dot top adds so much fun to my work wardrobe. I love that the modest cut and the flutter sleeves. Pairing it with navy and grey seemed to be the perfect way to style it for a day at the office.

I'm not comfortable wearing open-toed shoes to work, especially when most days I am in court, but I found that these sling backs felt both work appropriate but also more summery than traditional closed-toe pumps. I think closed-toe slingbacks will be something I reach for a lot this summer!

I had a relaxing, low-key weekend (it was rainy *again* here in Vancouver) so I feel pretty ready for the work week ahead. I hope you all are ready for the day - I am sending some kick-ass, you-got-this, let's-do-this vibes your way!

Wednesday Wants: Summer Pencil Skirts Under $150

I have been craving pencil skirts a lot lately. I have spent countless hours online window-shopping for great summer skirts. I realized, I should probably share with you a round-up of my best finds! These skirts are all office appropriate but still feel fun & fresh for summer.

In completely other random news - I saw Finding Dory a few days ago. It was SO good. I thought I would feel pretty ridiculous going to a kids movie with my group of 20-something year old friends, but I was shocked that the entire theatre was packed with adults haha. I highly recommend checking it out! All I'll say is that the darn sea shell "paths" shot (you'll see what I mean if you watch it) had me tearing up! If you've seen it; please tell me you teared up too. #SuchaSap

To my LLB "regulars": I won't be posting this Friday as I will be taking the day off for Canada Day. I'm actually going on a 3 day camping trip and could not be more excited to relax by a lake & hang out by a campfire. I will be back on Monday July 4th with a summer outfit you won't want to miss! Have a great long weekend everyone!

Summer White

White Pants // Loose Blazer // Tank Top // Heels // Similar Handbags (1), (2), (3) // Necklace // Sprinkles Bracelet c/o

I know I *just* styled these pants here on LLB - but I seriously cannot get enough of them! This summer I wanted to challenge myself to be more creative with my office wear; and trying out white pants was a huge leap for me.

Pairing white pants with a pale pink blazer was a no-brainer for me. Pink & white is one of my favorite summer color combinations. This black tassel handbag has also become a go-to for me. I picked it up for $20 on a whim while in Curacao (read all about my trip here if you missed it!) I, therefore, linked up a bunch of similar handbags for you guys to check out.

Have a great weekend everyone! See you back here on Monday.

Wednesday Wants: Summer Prints & Patterns

Summer weather brings a lot of flexibility into what you can wear to work. Prints & patterns that are work appropriate are everywhere (especially this summer). I highly recommend you add some prints to your work day attire.

Incorporating prints and patterns can make your outfit feel more fun - and more suited to summer. This week's wants are all items that would be great to brighten up your summer wardrobe.

I'm really excited about today! I've got a criminal lawyer's conference tonight that I have been eagerly anticipating for nearly 2 months. The keynote speaker is an incredible district attorney in the states who gave a TED talk on the justice system that I am obsessed with. I am ready to learn a whole lot this evening. I like work days where you know you get to become better at your job and where you get to grow as a professional. Today looks like it will be one of those days!

I hope you all have great work days ahead of you. Thank you (as always!) for stopping by. Be sure to follow me on instagram & like me on facebook to stay in touch!

Wednesday Wants: Work Appropriate Prints

I think too many young professionals shy away from prints when it comes to choosing items to wear to work. Prints can be challenging, for sure, but done correctly they can look great in your wear to work wardrobe! I particularly like adding prints in my accessories - my shoes & handbags.

These are my favorite "printed items" available right now. What I like about all of the items here is that they easily mix into your existing wardrobe. The dresses are stand alone pieces, while the shoes, handbag & skirt pair easily with work wear basics.

I've had a really fun week so far- and I have definitely indulged in some shopping! For non-work days I picked up a pair of denim short overalls and oh-my-gosh I never want to take them off. They are so comfortable and super nostalgia inducing. Pretty sure the last time I wore overalls I was 9 haha. You can see a pic of the overalls on my instagram if you want to check them out! I Hope your work week is going well so far!

How to Style a Sleeveless Blazer

Similar Sleeveless Blazer // T-Shirt // Pants // Heels // Similar Handbag // Necklace

l
The hotter the weather, the harder it is to dress professionally for work. If you work in a business casual work environment the sleeveless blazer is the perfect item for you.

While I unfortunately can't wear sleeveless blazers to work; I can wear them on my rare 'in my office' days or on weekends. I have been wearing this long black one non-stop! I love the functionality of having pockets but not having the added bulk of a full blazer.

Whether you choose to dress up a sleeveless blazer for work or dress it down for an evening/weekend look, I think there is one important tip to rocking this item of clothing. Balancing your proportions
By that, I mean pay attention to the length of your sleeveless blazer. If you are wearing skinny pants, as I am here, you can opt for a longer length blazer. If your bottoms are fuller though- like a midi skirt - stick to a sleeveless blazer that hits at or above your hips. In the widget below I've rounded up my top picks for sleeveless blazers (at every price point). Enjoy!

Wearing Pink to Work

Dress // Similar Heels: (1), (2) // Similar Chanel Handbag, Affordable "Look-a-Like" // Nail Polish

I was recently asked whether or not I think you can look professional while wearing pink. To me the answer is a resounding yes! If anything, I feel more confident when wearing pink to work because it reminds me that not only am I taking the professional world by storm but I am doing so as a fashion-loving woman who, yes, likes the color pink.

I feel more powerful knowing that I can do the career that I love without compromising who I am and what I like. While I do still wear black suits to work a lot, I am focusing on brightening up my wardrobe when/where I can.

While I wouldn't recommend wearing your hot pink mini skirt to work any time soon, I firmly believe pink can look work appropriate. This J Crew dress combines a professional, tailored cut with this soft pink shade, creating an easy wear-to-work outfit. If you are looking to incorporate pink into your work wear wardrobe, look for items with classic shapes & silhouettes to balance out the bolder color choice.

The widget below has some of my favorite wear-to-work, completely office appropriate pink items that are available right now. Do you wear pink to work? Let me know in the comments below!

I posted this dress on instagram a few backs- but I love it so much I wanted to do a blog post with it as well. It's a great work day dress - the cut, colour, and general fit are all office appropriate, while the gold zipper adds a bit of a fashionable twist. Paired with my favourite studded heels - it's an easy outfit win!

As you can see, I changed my hair! If you live in the greater Toronto area you NEED to go visit my hairdresser (and best friend) Maddie at The Body Bar. She is truly an amazing hair dresser who really understands the science behind getting you the perfect color and actually REALLY listens to what you want (so many hair dressers don't!)

You can't see the color difference in this post (I got ash blonde highlights) but the bangs were the big change for me. I'm still getting used to them, but I'm liking them so far! I like how they allow me to do a 2 minute "throw my hair in a bun" hair style that still looks professional! While we're on the topic of hair, did you guys see the article I posted on Facebook yesterday? A bunch of quick and easy hair styles for rushed mornings. I'll probably be stealing a lot of these ideas this week!

Have a great Monday everyone and I will see you back here on Wednesday!
