Wednesday Wants

I am SO excited to tell you that it is (finally) easier to shop my posts. In addition to the links I always provide, the photos themselves are now click-able. Click on any item you want to see and you'll be taken directly to it *happy dance*. It took me an embarrassingly long time to get this done, so hopefully I get quicker at it each week!

In case you missed it last week (see here) I've changed my Wednesday Wants a bit - instead of a mix of items I want, I will be showing items that work together for both a work day outfit and a weekend outfit.

As you can see, right now I am really loving camel and burgundy tones - they have made their way into both my work and weekend outfit ideas for this week. The camel pencil skirt is such a wardrobe staple - I highly recommend it as it can be worn in any season. Pairing it with the bugundy handbag and gorgeous navy and burgundy silk bracelet make the outfit perfect for a fall day at the office.

For this week's weekend look these jeans on sale are AMAZING. Paired with a turtleneck and plaid blanket scarf you have a chic but cozy weekend outfit.

I am still coming down from the high of seeing the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge this past weekend (more on that here if you missed it). I was very inspired by Kate's bold outfit (red pumps!) and I will be incorporating bold colors and details into my outfits this fall as well.

Wednesday Wants

I am so excited to show you guys my "new and improved" Wednesday Wants! I've decided that instead of providing a bunch of random items I am wanting, each week I am going to compile items I like into two outfits - a weekend one and a work day one. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this new look!

As for this week's wants - can you tell I have a thing for floral right now?! I feel like florals get so easily mistaken as a spring pattern, when in reality I love florals for fall. Hopefully these outfits inspire you to incorporate florals into your fall outfits, work day & weekend.

I hope you all have a great Wednesday ahead of you! I've had a bit of a slow start to my day today, I slept in far longer than I should have! I had a girls night out last night and my friends and I went to see Bridget Jones' Baby. It is by no means as good as the original, but it did have some pretty hilarious moments.

Work Wear Outfit Ideas for Fall

fall office appropriate outfit ideas

When I'm looking for inspiration for what to wear at the beginning of a season, one of the first things I do is go through my old blog posts to remind myself of outfits I wore last year. This helps to remind me of style ideas I liked, and gets the creative juices flowing!

Today, therefore, I thought I would share 5 office appropriate outfits that I wore last fall, and will definitely be re-creating again this year. I hope these help inspire your own work day fall style. Below each photo I've included a link to the original blog post where you can see all of the outfit details (all item links have been updated.)

PS. did you catch my Facebook live style Q&A over the weekend?! I've saved the video to my facebook page, so head on over to check it out if you missed it!

Three Timeless Fall Trends

three fall trends that never go out of style

It is officially fall weather here in Vancouver. So, in getting ready for the fall, I wanted to share with you three trends that are timeless; trends you can count on to look great fall after fall, after fall.

Three Timeless Fall Trends

1) Plaid

*Original Outfit Post: HERE*

As soon as the weather turns colder, you can bet that plaid will be back in fashion. The nice thing about plaid is that you can make quite the statement with it - as I did with the above shirt. Or; you can use it as more of an accent to your outfit - as I did in the outfit below.

 2) Stripes

The beauty of stripes as a pattern is that they can look nautical & summery, or ready for fall totally depending on how you style them. My striped tees are probably the most worn items in my wardrobe for this very reason!

To ensure your stripes are "fall ready"; pair them with other fall colors like burgundy or camel - or course mix them with plaid!

3) Leopard Print

The quote that leopard is a neutral is so true - especially for the fall. In the fall, leopard print can replace your basic black or tan to give your outfits more depth. Again, pairing leopard print with fall tones such as burgundy is an easy way to create a timeless fall look.

Happy August! July just flew by (... though I'm pretty sure I say that about every month haha). I can't believe we are already in August! The three outfits above are my favorite wear-to-work outfits that I showcased on the blog in the month of July.

I also thought I would show you my favorite casual outfits from July (I post those on my instagram). I've also linked up the items (or similar ones) in each of the instagram photos below. Be sure to follow me on instagram if you want to see more casual looks (I post those more frequently on instagram than on the blog).

I'd love to know which looks are your favorite! Let me know in the comments below.

5 Tips for Summer Office Wear

       Outfit Post (1)    //   Outfit Post (2)    //   Outfit Post (3)   //      Outfit Post (4)     //     Outfit Post (5)

1. Embrace White
Incorporating white into your office wear is the easiest way to make your work outfits fit for summer. A good pair of white pants are a wardrobe staple. I personally love these & these!

2. Add Bold Accent Colors
Summer colors like bright yellow, pink or orange can be work appropriate in small doses. When used as an accent color in a shoe, handbag or even top, any work outfit will feel more suited to the season.

3. Add Prints & Patterns
While I recommend playing with prints & patterns year round; they are especially important in the summer months. Work outfits can feel drab and prints and patterns are traditionally more playful and fun - just like summer. As you can see from my summer office outfits, I love floral & stripes.

4. Switch to Neutral Basics
Where you would normally wear black - wear white, tan or cream. In other words, switch out those black pencil skirts for tan ones, black pants for white ones, and black heels for nude ones.

5. Add Accessories
Because the summer is traditionally more relaxed - even for work wear - you can get away with wearing bolder accessories than other times of the year. A pair of statement earrings can totally be styled for the office!

Wednesday Wants: Pastels

office appropriate dresses and pencil skirts

Pastels are, unsurprisingly, on-trend every spring. What I have noticed this year though is that we are seeing more and more work appropriate items - pencil skirts, sheath dresses & dress pants - in pastel colors. This is something that I haven't seen as much in years past, and I am glad we are getting this diversity in work wear color!

This week's wants are focused entirely on pastel work appropriate items. My favorite is probably the pale blue sheath dress. I would love to wear this to work with a pair of nude pumps.

I hope you are all having a great work week!

Must Try Trend: The Wrap Skirt

Wrap skirts have been everywhere this spring, and I have had my eye on a couple for the past few weeks. I stumbled across this navy one at Winners and had to buy it. The color & length are perfect for work, but the faux wrap look takes this pencil skirt from boring to stylish and on-trend.

I definitely recommend the wrap skirt trend as one of this season's trends to actually incorporate into your wear-to-work wardrobe.
Trends can be tricky- especially when it comes to wearing them to the office - but wrap skirts are definitely work appropriate.

To all of you who read my blog regularly - my apologies for not posting this weekend! As you may have read in this post, I deviated from my usual Friday posting schedule because of a post that was supposed to go live Saturday morning.

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, it did was not able to be published. I am so sorry to anyone who checked back on Saturday and saw nothing! The post will be coming later this week though, so stay tuned!

Spring Florals & a Polette Giveaway

I've been a huge fan of Polette glasses for a long time, (you can read my first review of them here), but these ones take the cake. They are definitely my new favorite accessory! The light gold frames are perfect for spring. Polette is an online optician that offer's designer frames from $6.99-$49.99 with anti-reflective and anti-scratch coated lens options as well.

As you know from last week's post, I love to make my work looks more spring-like with the top I choose to wear. This Kate Spade top is feminine and I love the big floral print. For work I wear this with a blazer on top; but it's great to bare some shoulder (and get some sun!) over the lunch hour.

Today I am giving one lucky reader the chance to win a pair of glasses or sunnies from Polette! Enter below for your chance to win any frames of your choosing (open to US & Canadian residents 18+, for full general details about my rafflecopter giveaways see this post)

Have a great weekend everyone! I've got a fairly low-key weekend planned, unfortunately I have to work a fair bit to get on top of my case load for work next week, but I definitely plan on getting at least a bit of sunshine relaxation in!

Wednesday Wants: Must Try Spring Trends

spring-fashion-paper-bag-waist

what-to-wear-spring-2016-outfit-ideas

There are so many fashion trends to try this spring - from the 90s, to culotte pants, to paper-bag waists. This week's Wants are a round up of items I love that are right on trend for spring. I hope you enjoy them!

My personal favorite trend is probably the paper bag waist. It's comfortable & flattering, and can be casually dressed down or dressed up for work. That, my friends, is the definition of a 'functional' trend! I would love to know what trends you are most looking forward to wearing this spring. Let me know in the comments below!
