Go all in, forgo the backup plan. That is the fortune I selected to go inside my fortune cookie necklace from Fortune & Frame. I am the kind of person who makes backup plans. Heck, I make back up plans for my back plans. Lately though, I have been working on 'letting go' and relinquishing more control to the universe (... as if I had any control in the first place - such a type A personality over here haha).

In both my professional and personal life for the past few weeks I've been working hard to go all in and give every decision my all without (too much) planning / worrying about the future.

At work, I've been wearing this fortune cookie necklace and gorgeous blazer over and over to as little reminders to go all in. This blazer is definitely the best blazer I own. It is made from double pressed Italian wool and the tailoring is just beautiful. I even had a colleague ask about it earlier this week! She stopped me in the hall to ask where on earth I got such a well made blazer. The material has a touch of sheen to it, (consistent with it being such high quality material), and it just pops!

Between the blazer and the necklace I am forcing myself to go all in in my decisions and plans. Let's hope they keep bringing me good fortune! ...And for some good fortune for YOU; from now until April 8th you can get $50 off all orders from Citizens Mark (use coupon code: LEGALLEEBLONDE50). Do yourself a favour and get your hands on one of these blazers!!

Top 5 Jewelry Trends for 2016 (plus a 15% off deal!)

trends-in-jewellery-2016

This week I've been focusing a lot on jewelry, which had me thinking about the trends in jewelry this year. As such, I decided that for today's post I would provide a list of the top 5 trends in jewelry for 2016! Be sure to scroll through my favorite 'picks' for each trend, and you'll see a discount for 15% off some items!

Top 5 Jewelry Trends for 2016

1. Statement Earrings:

Statement Earrings were all the rage at New York Fashion Week this year. Everyone from Dolce & Gabbana, to Oscar De La Renta, to Gucci used statement earrings to complete their Spring/Summer looks.

Some of my favorite statement earrings available right now are:

2. Chokers:

It is no secret that the 90's have been back in style for some time now. This year, the 90's trend is extending into accessories, with chokers and amulet style necklaces making a big comeback. The 2016 chokers and amulets are all about the material - be that silks, or heavy metals. Below are my favorites:

 3. Body Chains:

These have been in style for the past year or so, but only now are they making an appearance as something to be worn not just to the beach or to a night club. The materials are also getting thicker and more bold - a far cry from the delicate gold chains we saw everywhere last summer. Below are my top picks:

4. Anklets:

Again with the 90's! I think this may be the trend I most excited about for this spring/summer. I loved wearing anklets in the 90's and feel nostalgic just thinking about getting to wear them again. Though I do think this time my choices will have less "ying-yangs" and half heart "BFF" charms haha. Below are my favorites:

5. Brooches:

I also really love this trend. Brooches always make me think of grace & class. I love that what has been seen as a 'grandma trend' is back in style. I will definitely be sporting brooches on my work looks this year. Below are my favorite brooches:

I hope you all have a great weekend ahead! In sticking with the simplicity theme thats been guiding my fashion choices lately, I'm going to try to have a relaxing weekend (a rarity for me). I hope to catch up on some work and start reading
a book I've been dying to read - A Discovery of Witches. Anyone read it?! What did you think?

See you all back here on Monday for another outfit post!
In the meantime, be sure to follow me on instagramtwitter & bloglovin!

Summer Office Wear - Look 1

Blouse: Banana Republic (old). Similar: here and here
Pants: Banana Republic (the BEST work pants!)
Heels: Old. Similar: here and here
Necklace: Banana Republic
Purse: Old. Similar: here and here

With the summer heat, creating comfortable, stylish and appropriate work outifts can be tricky! So, I wanted to show you guys two simple, but professional, summer looks. Look one is the above outfit and I will be posting look two next week (Monday)!

This outfit is SUCH a no-brainer for me. These Banana Republic pants are hands down the best work pants I've found. They sit at the perfect height about an inch under your belly button (so you won't be pulling at them throughout the day), the fit is so flattering/slimming and they hold their shape well (... I admit I totally re-wear these multiple times and they never look wrinkled!)

Work pants paired with a breezy top and a statement necklace are my key look for surviving summer office wear! I also like this combo of navy & grey to change up from the sea of black office wear.

Hope you are all having a great start to your work week! See you back here on Wednesday.

Today I am teaming up with Vancouver based jewelry company Nobis & Grey to talk about jewelry for your work day. While I have done many posts on LegalLee Blonde talking about tips for what to wear to work (here), great colour combinations for office attire (here & here), and even my go-to court outfit (here); I realized i have yet to talk about accessorizing your office wear.

A lot of people are afraid to wear jewelry with professional outfits, and I think that is unnecessary! Young professionals especially, seem to want to accessorize their outfits and bring their personal style into their office wear. Jewelry done well can absolutely compliment a professional look.

With today's look I wanted to show that you CAN wear a lot of jewelry (I am wearing SIX different pieces here!) and still keep your look professional, if you consider certain tips. My tips on selecting jewelry for your office wear are:

1) Colors
For the office, stick with metal, crystal or one color. This is not the place to bust out your blue, pink, and yellow statement necklace or your neon tassel bracelets.

2) Material
While mixed metal can be a pretty look in your accessories, my general rule for the office is to wear all rose gold, all gold or all silver. This keeps the jewelry from competing with one another and allows you to wear more, while still remaining classic and office appropriate.

3) The rule of two
Two places. That's where you should have jewelery for work. Ie. bracelets and rings, as I have done here, or rings and necklace, etc. I, personally, don't count simple earrings in the rule of two, but if you are going with a dangling statement earring then I would say to stick only to one other jewelry location. As I am wearing a lot of jewelry here, I decided to stick to rings and bracelets.

4) Functionality
Do you spend a lot of time at computer? If so, let's be real, charm bracelets or other loose bracelets are going to drive you legitimately insane. Better to stick with cuffs, like the ones I am wearing here, that will not interfere with your day-to-day lifestyle.

Nobis & Grey is a really interesting company because they have a great balance between fun, bright jewelry pieces and simple, office appropriate ones. They are in the midst of re-vamping their website (hence why I didn't directly link each item I am wearing) so stay tuned for that!

I am excited to announce that LegalLee Blonde readers can get 30% off at Nobis & Grey with the below discount code. Happy shopping!

Wednesday Wants

wednesday wants

Happy Wednesday Everyone! How is everyone's week going? My mom got in to town last night (visiting from Ontario) so I am taking this whole week off to just spend some time with her. I am so excited! Today is our first real day together (she flew in late last night) and boy-oh-boy have I jam packed it with stuff haha. Were just about to head off for a morning walk along the sea wall, then were going to go for Brunch, go shopping on Robson St., explore Gastown, and finally have dinner reservations! Phew! Fellow Vancouver-ites out there: any recommendations of things I must do with my mom!?!

1. YSL Lipstick: I have been DYING to try this lipstick. I have read so many great reviews from other bloggers, but have yet to find a colour I like. ...That is until I came across "blond ingenu" it is the perfect neutral colour! Can't wait to pick this one up.

2. Isola Ankle Boots: How great are these boots?! I think these are the PERFECT transitional boot from winter to spring. The colour and cut will look great with spring outfits (think white denim, lots of pastel colours) but will still keep your feet warm and toasty for those 'not-so-spring-feeling' days.

3. Pop the Champagne Tee: Love the slogan, love the gold foil. Awesome graphic tee.

4. Target Sunglasses: I am loving mirrored sunglasses right now, BUT, I refuse to buy sunglasses that cost more than $30 because I am the WORST at losing/breaking/somehow destorying sunglasses. These are right on trend and are only $17!

5. JCrew Cotton Tee in "Orchid": I basically LIVE in these tissue tees from JCrew Factory. They are so comfortable and just the right fit of "not too tight, but not too baggy". I think I have 5 of them so far haha. Definitely want to add this beautiful orchid colour one to my collection for spring! If you haven't worn these tees, do yourself a favour and buy one (...or five...)

6. London Graphic Tee: I heart London;  Princess Kate, Fish & Chips, Tea Time, Prince Harry.... I need this tee.

7. JCrew Neon Sleeveless Blouse: THIS COLOUR! Epic!

8. Ralph Lauren Necklace: Love the gold and turquoise combo, and I like that it's a smaller statement necklace (...anyone else think that statement necklaces are getting out of hand lately?! sometimes they literally take up your whole chest!)
