I've been wearing olive green a lot lately. It's an easy color to add to work wear to move away from black & white, without making too much of a statement. Perfect for a classic work look. Pops of leopard and gold add just enough drama to make the look stylish.

Having been under the weather lately I have been on a major Gilmore Girls bender. I started with the first season a couple weeks ago and am already mid-season three haha. I am so excited for the new season to be released in a couple of weeks. Are any of you guys huge Gilmore Girls fans too? I wanted to share with you all my take on a classic work look. For me, classic means trouser fit pants, a white blouse, and a functional work bag. All of which this outfit has!

I love the lace detailing on this top as it adds a touch of style to the classic office outfit. Also, you guys, i FINALLY caved and got this handbag that I have been eyeing for over a year. It is the perfect lawyer bag - it fits legal size paper (such a win) and has a zipper laptop compartment. This handbag is my new love haha. Finally, to keep the classic outfit fresh, I added rose gold accents, via my shoes & my jewelry.

How gorgeous are these Olive & Piper earrings?! I received them a few weeks ago and have been waiting for the perfect outfit to let these shine. The rose gold color is perfect for fall and the sleek shape has a very modern-chic feel that is great to pair with office outfits. I have actually had multiple court clerks ask me as soon as we have gone off-record in Court where my beautiful jewelry is from - and my answer is always Olive & Piper. I am SO excited to tell you that it is (finally) easier to shop my posts. In addition to the links I always provide, the photos themselves are now click-able. In case you missed it last week (see here) I've changed my Wednesday Wants a bit - instead of a mix of items I want, I will be showing items that work together for both a work day outfit and a weekend outfit.

As you can see, right now I am really loving camel and burgundy tones - they have made their way into both my work and weekend outfit ideas for this week. The camel pencil skirt is such a wardrobe staple - I highly recommend it as it can be worn in any season. Pairing it with the bugundy handbag and gorgeous navy and burgundy silk bracelet make the outfit perfect for a fall day at the office. 

For this week's weekend look these jeans on sale are AMAZING. Paired with a turtleneck and plaid blanket scarf you have a chic but cozy weekend outfit. 

I am still coming down from the high of seeing the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge this past weekend (more on that here if you missed it). I was very inspired by Kate's bold outfit (red pumps!) and I will be incorporating bold colors and details into my outfits this fall as well.

Making Jenna Lyons Proud

Jenna Lyons is probably my biggest fashion idol. She is the president & creative director for J Crew, and a major risk-taker in the world of fashion. When I bought this JCrew flamingo blazer, I knew I wanted to be really bold with my style choices and 'make Jenna proud'. 

I decided to do some print mixing and wear the pink blazer with both leopard print and stripes for a bold work outfit. If you are shy about print mixing, don't be! If you missed my tips on print mixing, check them out here. Leopard & stripes are a classic print mix combo, and adding in any bright color with them (like hot pink) works perfectly. 

I also plan on styling this pink blazer in a more subdued work outfit later in the fall, so be sure to stay tuned on the blog for that!

Grey & Floral

I cannot get enough of these Kate Spade floral heels. I have worn them to court quite a few times in the past few weeks and people compliment them every single time! If you work in an environment where you are more restricted as to what you can wear (ie. the land of black suits lol) shoes are a great way to add some personal style to your outfit. 

I also love adding a bold handbag to my work outfits whenever I can. This pink Michael Kors is actually my mother's, but luckily she lets me borrow it! My mom has incredible style (you can see posts from her here & here if you missed them!)

In other news, I am trying out a spin cycle class after work tonight with a friend. It is a new instructor at a new studio here in Vancouver, so I am a bit nervous but looking forward to a good workout. I've only ever done spin class once before, so hopefully it isn't too intense! I'm trying to expand my workouts lately and try new things- other than just dancing & running. What workouts do you all like? Any recommendations for things I should try? Let me know!

Navy & Pink

These pink pants were a purchase I made last week with the thought process of: "oh ya summer?! you think you're over?! Not a chance. I'll show you... I'll buy summer clothes to wear; take that!!"

Unsurprisingly, mother nature did not bend to my thought process, and indeed the summer weather here has come to an end. So; that meant styling these hot pink pants in a way that worked for fall. My favorite navy blazer and these suede navy pumps seemed like a great way to do that.

I really love the combination of navy & pink for early fall, so this is probably not the last you'll be seeing of this color combo here on the blog. (... in fact, if you follow me on instagram, you may have seen that I caved and bought this in hot pink). I have a hot pink addiction right now!

WDLBD - aka. your Work Day Little Black Dress

A work day little black dress (yeah that's right - I felt the need to acronym that into WDLBD haha) is a wardrobe essential. A black dress will always be a great choice for the office - it is a classic, professional look. 

This peplum dress is the perfect WDLBD for many reasons. First, the length is entirely work appropriate. Second, the sweetheart neckline and peplum detail add a fashionable, trendy element to this classic piece. Finally, I love the material of this dress - while it is tight fitted, it is quite thick and so avoids the dreaded 'body-con-at-work' look. 

I am on such a rose gold kick right now, so I paired this WDLBD with rose gold accessories that, again, work for the office. I love my rose gold watch - it is one of most worn items at work. Because I can't always have my cell phone on me (the challenge of being a courtroom lawyer) I definitely like to have a watch at all times.

In other news, I got back into Vancouver yesterday after my vacation at my parents. I'm pretty excited to be back at work (I really love being a lawyer) but I already miss my nieces & nephews. It is certainly tough living away from all my little munchkins! I had a blast with them this past week. Did you catch my instagram story of my niece making fun of me for taking selfies?! A Feminine Suit

 Blazer // Skirt // Heels (SO comfortable) // Crossbody Bag (under $30!) // Lipstick (in "wonderland")

You may remember this suit from my Nordstrom Sale - Product Review post. I have already worn this CeCe suit a few times since then, and receive compliments every time I wear it! The reason I think it is so well-received is that it strikes the perfect balance of professional & stylish/youthful.

The bow detailing adds a hint of femininity. I also love the unique slight a-line cut of the skirt. So few suits diverge from the pencil skirt style, that it was nice to add something different to my wear-to-work wardrobe. 

This Forever 21 crossbody was *such* a great purchase! I use it probably once a week and it cost less than $30! The style reminds me of the famous Chloe "Drew" (but with a price tag that is actually affordable!)

Please forgive my hair in these photos - the humidity has been crazy here in Vancouver this week and I certainly have had the "mane" to prove it. Side note: one of my childhood nicknames was "Simba" lol. 

In other news, I am flying back to the east coast later today to spend a week with my family. I am so, so, excited to eat my parents home cooking, squish my nieces & nephews, & relax with friends by the pool. Wednesday Wants: New Fall Releases - Shoes

I have been wanting to update my shoe closet for a while now, and seeing all the great pairs available right now is certainly making me want to splurge! Suede shoes for work are a favorite of mine - so I am happy to see so many suede styles this season. I also love how many great flats there are - as some days you just need to give your feet a break from heels!

I'm currently trying to do 4/5 work days in heels, but give myself one day in flats. Cute flats (like these ones here!) definitely make it easier to give up heels for the day for the sake of my poor feet! 

I hope you all have an awesome day at work! I've got to go to courthouses in a couple different cities today so it should be a busy one for me. (...and yes, given all the running around I'm doing today, today is most-definitely my flats day haha)
